Between 2008 and 2011 the Wicked Jazz Sounds Band did over 100 shows all over Holland and abroad, including venues like Paradiso, Noorderslag and four ‘Bevrijdingsfestivals’.
One of the first songs we wrote was “Let the Music (Guide your Life)”, which we played at Dutch national television show “De Wereld Draait Door” with an early version of the band in 2008:
The first show with the actual band was on June 6, 2008 at WJS residency the Sugar Factory. That same night we performed on Dutch national Radio 3FM. Luckily some footage of this day is still available:
One of my personal highlights was the album release on June 9, 2009, at club Trouw. The place had just opened a week before and was completely sold out that night:
Another highlight was the collaboration with Idols-singer Boris in 2010: we were asked to merge both our bands into a one-time ‘supergroup’ to tour the Dutch ‘Bevrijdingsfestivals’. With the resulting ‘Boris & Wicked Jazz Experience’ we first did a show at ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ in february:
Then, the 5th of may (Dutch ‘Liberation Day’) we were flown around Holland in a Military Chinook Helicopter, allowing us to do four shows on one day! Departing early morning at a military base in Brabant, we flew to Groningen, Assen, Rotterdam and Vlissingen! This is some footage of that day by a group of reporters that joined us:
